RF
Kiln
Original
research and development project was started by COFI to develop a system
to dry lumber using RF technology. After
the concept was proven, we were asked to provide on-going support and to
re-program the PLC’s and operator interface to simplify the operation,
as well as provide additional diagnostic capabilities and turn the R &
D project into a production machine centre.
Two (2) Allen-Bradley PLC 5’s are used in
conjunction with Panelview and Controlview operator stations
to control the RF system and Kiln. A
third PLC (Allen-Bradley SLC 500) was used to control the vacuum
pump.
Since
the Eburne Sawmill / Planermill complex has been permanently closed, the
RF Kiln has been purchased by another firm and has been installed in
Pemberton, B.C. We continue
to offer support for the RF Kiln to the new owner, Fraserwood Industries
Ltd.
