Jim Irwin, Founder and Presidentcorvette
In June 1986, Jim began the challenge of establishing a consulting firm to provide industrial controls expertise, primarily in the wood products sector.  Jim’s extensive knowledge of PLCs and HMIs is the result of 30 years of industrial automation experience.

For recreation, Jim enjoys playing and watching hockey, audio, working around the home, and working on his cars. (ask him about the 1962 Corvette he is restoring).

Ron Baum, Senior Control Specialist
Ron has been with Pacificon for 8 years as a designer and project manager.  Pacificon has benefited greatly from his experience in the wood products industry.  Ron is also our “go to” guy when troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.  “Why make it complicated” is often his approach to design issues. 

Away from work, his favourite things in life are boating, NASCAR and football. (although a nice glass of wine fits in there somewhere too).

Peter Wilmshurst, Automation Specialistanimal
Peter brings 23 years of  automation experience to Pacificon.  His past work experience includes UBC Triumf where he held the position of senior controls project manager and at Heatwave Technologies Inc. where he gained valuable experience in radio frequency (RF) technology applied to wood kilns and drying ovens.

Currently Peter serves as project manager for Pacificon’s lumber strapper projects, and has recently added the AutoWraptor to his responsibilities.

Peter is an excellent programmer and musician.  But let’s just say he is more sought after for his programming skills.

Ken Chan, Cad Technologistphotographer
Ken is a BCIT Mechanical Technologist that has been with Pacificon for over 10 years.  Ken’s duties involve the design, production and maintenance of all project drawings. In addition, he also serves as our IT guru.

Ken is an avid photographer who enjoys shooting all sorts of things.  Just don’t get him started on which is better; film or digital.

Don Miller
Don is our accountant and takes care of all financial requirements.  If it's a money thing, talk to Don!

Don likes traveling (once his wife gets him there), and enjoys playing hockey for recreation.

Debbie Irwin, Administration
From purchase orders to travel reservations, Debbie handles all the clerical duties as well as keeping us fellows in line.  She also makes sure we always have Tim Hortons coffee on hand.

In addition to her excellent craft skills, Debbie enjoys puttering around the house and garden.

Workmates on Contract
In addition to our full time staff, Pacificon also relies on the skills and expertise of a few fellows we retain on a contract basis.

  Fred Koehler and Joe Schmidt, Electricians
Fred and Joe have been on contract with Pacificon for the last 10 years.  They install and wire all the components for the Signode lumber strappers.		  



  Norm McArthur, Electrician at Ross Morrison Electrical
Here’s a guy that deserves an award.  When we have several projects on the go, Norm always finds a way to get them done on time.  He assembles and wires all our control panels, operator consoles, junction boxes and cables as well as any custom fabrication that is required for a project.
