Signode is a multinational manufacturer of consumable products such as; steel and plastic strap, stretch film, pressure sensitive carton sealing tapes and labels.  They also manufacture the application equipment for these products.  Their products are used throughout the world in a broad range of industries to secure everything from cotton bales and newspapers to lumber, steel coils and corrugated cartons.

Pacificon is the exclusive supplier of control systems to Signode in Canada.  Our ability to customize a machine is what gives Signode a distinct advantage over their competitors.  Since 1990, Pacificon has supplied many different strapper control configurations, using a wide variety of PLC brands and models to meet Signode customer demands..

The sudden rise of steel prices has caused a demand to switch over from steel strap to more cost effective plastic straps. As a result, retrofitting strapping machines from steel to plastic straps has recently become a large part of our business with Signode.

During the last several years, Pacificon has provided more than 200 lumber strapper control systems to support Signode and their customers' needs.

During the last year, Signode has taken on the distribution and service of the AutoWraptor machine and related lumber wrap products. Pacificon has been requested by Signode to provide support for the electrical and control portions of these machines.

R&D Partnership
Over the years, Pacificon has also engaged in several R&D projects with Signode Canada. The two most notable technologies relate to printing Barcodes, Grades and Logo's on lumber offered for sale by the large Box-Stores (Rona, Home Depot and Lowes) using the following two technologies:

• HP Inkjet printing systems
• Print & Apply labelling systems
