Upgrade Double Edger / Single Optimizer system by replacing the existing Texas Instruments PLC system with Controllogix and COE Newnes McGhee (CNM) Board Optimizer with a new COMACT Edger Optimizer.
|
| Details: |
A Controllogix PLC was used to replace the existing Texas Instruments PLC system. The PLC interfaced to the new Comact Edger Optimizer, linear positioners on both edgers and several VFD's. An RSView32 HMI was provided for setup, monitoring and troubleshooting of the system.
The multiple lugged chains were "soft-coupled" together using VFD's and the Controllogix PLC thus eliminating the need for mechanical coupling
|
| Notes: |
The customer was reluctant to install a second Controllogix PLC system as they had an unpleasant experience with their first installation by another firm. We suggested that we could make the Controllogix processor look similar to the TI PLC it was replacing and that the site electricians were already familiar with.
The installation and commissioning was completed in the time allocated, and the electricians were able to be self-sufficient in a short period of time. |
