High Speed Lumber Labelling System
To address the needs of clients who require Bar Codes, Grades and Logos applied to their products, Signode has teamed up with Pacificon to develop state of the art Lumber Labelling Systems. While Print and Apply (print on labels) and InkJet (print directly on the product) technologies are quite different, they share many similarities.
In 2004 Pacificon introduced a "Print and Apply" Labelling system which applied barcode labels on the end of the lumber. Recently, Pacificon introduced HP Inkjet printing technology enabling printing of barcodes, grades, boards size and Logo's directly on the top and/or end of the lumber.
Unlike others who depend on custom programs running on a PC, we designed our Inkjet printing systems to use standard PLC and HMI technology allowing your own electricians and production personnel ease of service and troubleshooting.
Features & Specifications:
- Allen Bradley PLC Based Control System using Industry-standard off-the-shelf Hardware components that is easy to troubleshoot and service.
- Selectable communication Interface to customer PLC
- There is no limit to the number of products, LOGO’s, product thickness, width, length, grades or Graders that can be accommodated – our systems will print whatever combination of parameters received from the customer’s PLC system.
- Products can be identified with a user defined Product Code, a UPC Bar Code (a12-digit number) or 2-D Barcodes for special applications.
- Products or Production Runs can be managed and maintained on a remote computer, i.e. to maintain format consistency between multiple sites.
- Prints labels with variable data for each board at speeds up to 240 lugs per minute. The electronics have been tested at speeds over 300 lugs per minute.
- The High Speed Counter enables accurate placement of labels at all operating speeds and includes rate compensation for acceleration and deceleration of the Lugged Transfer.
- As an option, the system can provide Bar Code Verification for each board as well as Analyzing & Reporting on Barcode Quality at production speeds.
The Print and Apply and Inkjet Labelling systems can be ordered separately or a combination of both technologies. With our Inkjet system, you can print a text, barcodes and even Logo's in any combination up to 4 inches high on the end and top of the board.
