Drives
In the last few years VFD’s have been used to replace ‘standard drives’ in applications where all the benefits of a VFD are required. Servo drives are often used in systems with higher performance requirements. We have a considerable amount of experience with all these drive technologies and can recommend a drive to fit your application and budget.
Examples:
Lumber Strapper
We have designed a VFD into the Signode Lumber Strapping Control Systems for the
Strap Feed / Take-up operation to:
- reduce the overall strap cycle time
- control the strap length more precisely
- reduce maintenance (soft starts and stops are considerably easier on the machine)
Soft-Coupled Trim / Sort Drives
We have used Servo drives in a SERCOS network to "soft-couple"
several trimmer and sorter
Lugged transfers together having them respond like a single drive, while adding the flexibility to
control each transfers' motion and speed independently as required for a cut-in-two
operation
or passing through multiple grade stations.
We have also used high performance VFD's instead of servo drives in similar application.
