Technologies
As control system consultants, we take an unbiased approach when recommending the equipment that best suited to your project. Many factors enter our hardware and software equipment decision, they include;
|
| Hardware functionality |
does it suit the required task |
| Hardware/Software cost |
choosing the lowest or highest price is not always the best decision |
| Vendor support |
website, online & hardcopy manuals, phone support, etc. |
| Ease of implementation
and use |
looking for clear and simple solutions |
| Client’s “Mill Standards” |
allow the plant to keep a minimum of spare parts on hand |
| Client’s personnel |
what is the level of onsite expertise required to support the product |
| Engineering costs |
particularly when implementing any new technology |
|
|
On most projects, we recommend the client stay with the same equipment used elsewhere in the plant, as it would be much easier for their own personnel to service and troubleshoot. However, this may not be possible if the equipment cannot perform the required task, or if it is no longer being supported by the equipment vendor.
If new hardware and/or software is required, consideration must be extended to training the personnel who will be supporting this new technology.
We endeavor to keep all our software licenses and hardware knowledge up to date, as it is important we stay current with these changing technologies.
